Torqeedo and Yamaha Join Forces to Expand Electric Outboard Motors in Europe
Starting in January 2025, Torqeedo’s electric outboard motors will be available in eight European countries through Yamaha’s dealer network. This collaboration represents a major step in integrating electric propulsion technologies into traditional maritime solutions.
Advancing Sustainable Maritime Mobility
In April 2024, Torqeedo became part of the Yamaha Motor group, combining its expertise in electric propulsion with Yamaha’s long-standing experience in the maritime industry. The partnership aims to provide eco-friendly propulsion options that help reduce CO2 emissions and noise pollution, reflecting Yamaha’s commitment to sustainability.
A Comprehensive Range for Varied Needs
The distribution network will cover eight European countries: the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. The lineup includes:
- Travel Ultralight, with a power equivalent of 1-3 horsepower;
- Travel Family, offering 2-5 horsepower for boats up to two tons;
- Cruise, delivering 6-25 horsepower for vessels weighing up to 12 tons.
This diverse range is designed to cater to both recreational and professional boating requirements.
Expanding Distribution Networks
Torqeedo’s Global Business Development Director, Timm Burmeister, emphasized the benefits of the partnership, stating: « Collaborating with Yamaha allows us to enhance our market presence while benefiting from their extensive dealer network and local market expertise. »
Established in 2005 in Germany, Torqeedo has been a pioneer in electric propulsion. The company’s portfolio includes electric and hybrid systems, supported by over 250 patents, reflecting a strong focus on innovation and market leadership.
